Terms and Conditions
for Frontiers Events

  • The capitalized terms used in this document have the meaning defined below:

    1.1. “Attendees” refers to individuals who attend the Events

    1.2. “Additional Terms” refers to terms and conditions that complement these Terms and Conditions for Frontiers Events and that apply to specific Frontiers Events

    1.3. “Frontiers Events” refers to all online, in-person or hybrid events organized by Frontiers Media SA or its affiliates (“Frontiers”) including in particular the Frontiers Forum and all its sessions

    1.4. “Frontiers Events Content” refers to any text, picture, graphic, audio-visual content, live presentation or other content, in any format, accessible by Registrants and Attendees via the Frontiers Events Platform or as part of the Frontiers Events

    1.5. “Frontiers Events Platform” refers to the digital platform (including any related mobile application) used by Frontiers to enable the registration for the Frontiers Events and the online distribution of the Frontiers Events Content

    1.6. “Registrants” refers to individuals who register for the Events

    1.7. “Terms” refers to these Terms and Conditions for Frontiers Events as well as any Additional Terms where applicable

  • 2.1. These Terms and Conditions for Frontiers Events apply to all Frontiers Events.

    2.2. If any Additional Terms apply to a specific Frontiers Event, they will be communicated to Registrants (including persons invited by Frontiers to register for a Frontiers Event) by featuring them on the Frontiers Events Platform, or via email.

    2.3. By registering for any Frontiers Event, Registrants acknowledge the Terms and agree to comply with them. Registrants understand that the Terms constitute a binding agreement between them and Frontiers and agree that their failure to comply with the Terms may lead to their exclusion from one or all the Frontiers Events without any compensation due to them.

  • 3.1. Attendance of Frontiers Events is generally by “invitation only”, but certain Frontiers Events may be open to public registration subject to conditions specified in Additional Terms

    3.2. Unless otherwise specified in Additional Terms, registration is limited to persons aged 18 or above and, in case minors are allowed to register, Frontiers may require evidence of parents’ or legal guardian’s authorization.

    3.3. Registration is personal and registration credentials cannot be shared with anyone.

    3.4. For certain Frontiers Events, Registrants are required to create an account on the Frontiers Events Platform. Registrants are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their account and are not allowed to share their login information with anyone.

    3.5. To register, Registrants are required to provide certain information about themselves such as first name, last name, position/title and affiliation, as well as other contact details for in-person Attendees. For certain Frontiers Events, Registrants may complement their account on the Frontiers Events Platform by providing additional biographical information. Registrants must provide information about them that is accurate and up to date and update such information in case of any change.

  • Unless otherwise stated in any Additional Terms, attendance at Frontiers Events is free of charge and Attendees are responsible for all costs associated with attending the Frontiers Events.

  • Frontiers reserves the right to change the dates, postpone, or cancel any Frontiers Event, or to modify the program without any obligation to compensate Registrants.

  • 6.1. By registering for or attending an Event, Registrants and Attendees authorize Frontiers, and any third party authorized by Frontiers, to capture and use their image, likeness, name, and voice.

    6.2. This material may be used by Frontiers, or any third party authorized by Frontiers, in any format, in perpetuity for the coverage and promotion of Frontiers and the Frontiers Events, worldwide and through all media now existing or to be invented in the future.

  • Frontiers will communicate with Registrants in relation to the Frontiers Events they registered for via the email address provided at registration, or via the Frontiers Events Platform. Such communications will include important information about the Frontiers Events, their agenda and organization or the Registrants account. Frontiers may also inform Registrants about future Frontiers Events or other Frontiers’ activities or contact Registrants in relation to opportunities to collaborate with Frontiers journals, while allowing Registrants to unsubscribe from such communications at any time.

  • Frontiers will process personal data of Registrants in accordance with the Frontiers Privacy Policy and any additional notices included in Additional Terms

  • 9.1. The Frontiers Events Platform will provide access to the Frontiers Events Content and may offer some further networking and messaging functionalities or other features, which Registrants can use to enhance their experience. These features must be used responsibly and lawfully, and it is in particular prohibited to use them to harass or impersonate any person, or to communicate any content that is obscene, discriminatory, unlawful or that infringes upon the privacy or intellectual property of any third party.

    9.2. Frontiers may issue guidelines or rules concerning attendance or use of the Frontiers Event Platform and Registrants agree to comply with these guidelines.

    9.3. Frontiers reserves the right to discontinue these functionalities or to exclude a Registrant or Attendee in case of misuse or violation of the relevant guidelines.

  • 10.1. All Frontiers Events Content is the exclusive property of Frontiers and/or Frontiers’ rights holders, including the affiliated speakers and presenters.

    10.2. Subject to Paragraph 11.2, Attendees do not have the right to record, copy, distribute, broadcast, or otherwise use the Frontiers’ Events Content without Frontiers’ prior written consent.

    10.3. If the Frontiers Event Platform or the Frontiers Events includes links or references to third-party resources, Frontiers is not responsible for the content of these third-party resources.

    10.4. “Frontiers”, “Frontiers in”, “Frontiers Forum”, “Loop”, and the Frontiers logo are registered trademarks of Frontiers and may not be used without prior written approval.

    10.5. No commercial association with Frontiers or the Frontiers Events is permitted unless with Frontiers prior written authorization.

  • 11.1. Unless otherwise provided in any Additional Terms, Attendees are allowed to capture pictures and record videos with non-professional audio-visual equipment and solely for their personal use while attending the Frontiers Events.

    11.2. Attendees are allowed to share pictures from Frontiers Events on their social media feeds, for personal and non-commercial purposes only and without misrepresenting or altering the meaning of the original Frontiers Events Content, infringing upon the privacy or other rights of any other persons, or interfering with the operations of the Frontiers Events.

    11.3. Attendees are not allowed to livestream the Frontiers Events, or any Frontiers Events Content, or to share video content recorded during the Frontiers Events via any media without Frontiers’ prior written authorization.

    11.4. The use and sharing of Frontiers Events Content made publicly available by Frontiers on social media or any video hosting platform is subject to the conditions of such third-party platforms.

  • 12.1. To the extent permissible by law, Frontiers disclaims all responsibility for any damage, injury, loss, or other harm connected with the registration or attendance of Frontiers Events including travel, meals, and accommodation.

    12.2. The Frontiers Event Platform is provided as is, without guarantees of performance or availability.

  • Frontiers is not liable for the inability to fulfil any of its obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, governmental action, or other force majeure events.

  • 14.1. If any provision of the Terms is determined to be void or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect the remainder of the Terms which shall continue to be in force.

    14.2. These Terms and any Additional Terms are governed by Swiss law.

    14.3. Any disputes arising from these Terms and any Additional Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Lausanne, Switzerland.
